Saint Joseph’s Dementia Village is community of people living and working together. This enables people with dementia to live as normal a life as possible within the restriction of their illness.
Residents (all of whom are living with dementia) are cared for by staff that are skilled and experienced in all aspects of the complex needs of dementia.
Our Dementia Village is a community that is creates spaces and areas for people living with dementia to live, enjoy and socialise (the cinema, coffee shop, gardens), and when necessary to relax and feel calmed (our sensory and family rooms).
We have undertaken all this work over the last 2 years in order to transform Saint Joseph’s from a ‘traditional style nursing home’ into a dementia friendly village.
We have done this to enable and empower people living with dementia to live active lives.
We must give people living with dementia and their families the best care we can, today and in the future.
We promise to work together and use modern sciences, design, care planning innovation and research proven activities to create the safest, most caring, enjoyable dementia friendly community we can.
