17 Sep 13th International Dementia Conference highlights the amazing care and community programmes at Saint Joseph’s Shankill
The team at Saint Joseph’s Shankill are honoured and excited about the upcoming 13th Annual International Dementia Conference, which will be held online on the 4th – 6th of October 2021.
The conference will welcome members from the medical and academic community, people living with dementia, family carers and nursing homes’ carers will come together on Zoom to present in 6 sessions, 5 panel discussions and 3 interactive sessions.
Members of the team from Saint Joseph’s will be presenting as a part of 2 of the sessions, 1 of the panel discussions and 2 of the interactive sessions! So our voice will be heard by many and we hope that we can bring our learnings about caring for people living with dementia and the amazing additional programmes to the attention of many health care change makers.
This year’s conference will cover the multiple facets of dementia, focusing on the research and the medical aspect of the disease, but also on the importance of community support and living well with dementia. The future of long- term dementia care, young onset dementia, resilience and wellbeing of carers, new dementia pathways, Lewy Body Dementia and much more will all be discussed.
Saint Joseph’s will present on our model of care, our staff wellbeing and resilience interventions, our volunteer and community programme and our schools programme, Infection control implementations and our innovative communications tool ‘life on your lap’
The 13th International Dementia Conference welcomes anybody who experiences dementia in their personal life or as part of their job, and it’s a fantastic way to get together (even though remotely) and spread awareness on how to contribute to a dementia inclusive society.
