Saint Joseph’s Respite

Visiting

Due to Covid 19 restrictions for health care settings and for the safety and wellbeing of all the people who live at Saint Joseph’s Shankill, face masks must be worn by all visitors, staff and volunteers.

We operate an open visiting policy at Saint Joseph’s (but we reserve the right to restrict visitors and visiting times depending on individual circumstances).  At the moment while mask wearing is still mandatory we are discouraging visits during meal times.   (The approximate times are below but may depend on each Lodge so check with the team in the Lodge where your loved one or friend is living).

Breakfast 8.15 – 11.00 (any time each person gets up!)
Lunch 12.30
Evening Meal 16.45
Supper 20.00

Remember that any special celebrations such as birthdays and anniversaries can be catered for and celebrated together – just let us know!

Our respite care service offers people living with dementia the chance to come and stay with us ‘full board’ as they say for two weeks.

At the same time their loved one who is caring for them at home can take some time for themselves and recharge their batteries!

If you would like to avail of some respite relief, the first step is to contact your Public Health Nurse.  This is usually done through your GP or you can contact them directly.

The Public Health Nurse will send a written referral to us.

Your main contact with us in Saint Joseph’s will be our Director of Nursing, Sinoy Allyboccus, or one of our Clinical Nurse Managers Sarah Kuntz or Ai Leen Chiu.

When we receive the referral, we will contact you directly to arrange an assessment of your needs.

Your assessment will be carried out in your home at an agreed time and date convenient to you.

Once this is completed and everyone is in agreement that Saint Joseph’s is suitable to you for respite stay, we will arrange specific days for your respite care to take place.
