Saint Joseph’s Respite

Visiting

Due to Covid 19 restrictions and for the safety and wellbeing of all the people who live at Saint Joseph’s Shankill, visits must be booked in advance and visiting is held in our dedicated visiting area, which is managed by members of our wonderful volunteer team!

You can find out more about our current visiting arrangements HERE.

You can make a booking to visit a loved one HERE.

In normal times with no Covid restrictions we operate an open visiting policy at Saint Joseph’s Centre (but we reserve the right to restrict visitors and visiting times depending on individual circumstances).  And visitors are very welcome to join us at meal times the approximate times are below but may depend on each Lodge so check with the team in the Lodge where your loved one or friend is living.

At Saint Joseph’s we also offer respite care, where people living with dementia can come and stay with us ‘full board’ as they say for a week or two.

At the same time their loved one who is caring for them at home can take some time for themselves and recharge their batteries!

If you would like to avail of some respite relief, the first step is to contact your Public Health Nurse.  This is usually done through your GP or you can contact them directly.

The Public Health Nurse will send a written referral to us.

Your main contact with us in Saint Joseph’s will be our Director of Nursing, Norma Sheehan, or one of our Clinical Nurse Managers Sarah Kuntz or Sinoy Allyboccus.

When we receive the referral, we will contact you directly to arrange an assessment of your needs.

Your assessment will be carried out in your home at an agreed time and date convenient to you.

Once this is completed and everyone is in agreement that Saint Josephs is suitable to you for respite stay, we will arrange specific days for your respite care to take place.
