Campaigning

We are eager to support the HSE’s campaign to bring more awareness and understanding about dementia to everyone in Ireland.  We actively encourage all our friends, families and supporters to browse through their materials which helps explain many different aspects about dementia.

Dementia: Understand Together launch new dementia inclusive community symbol

At Saint Joseph’s Shankill we are proud to be part of the Dementia: Understand Together campaign and supporting the launch of the new dementia inclusive community symbol.

The symbol has been developed with people with dementia at its heart. By displaying the symbol in our communities, it’s hoped that organisations and services will help to raise awareness for dementia and also show solidarity with more than 64,000 people living with the condition in Ireland.

We  are joined by 40 partners, ranging from voluntary and community groups, health services and academia to retail, transport and financial services and over 500 community champions nationally to take action to help support people with dementia, their families and friends.

As well as displaying and using the symbol on site at Saint Joseph’s, we will include it on our website and newsletters and on our social media platforms.

We encourage everyone to explore how simple actions can make a real difference to making their services and businesses more accessible, not just to people living with dementia, but to everybody living in our diverse communities.

We’re committed to becoming more dementia inclusive, and recently we in Leinster House, promoting our Erasmus + programme, called Dementia Right, creating a human rights based approach for people living with dementia.

By understanding together, we can all make a difference and help people in our communities to stay connected and included. If you’d like to join the campaign, you can find out more, complete training and order promotional materials at www.understandtogether.ie/get-involved
