These are unprecedented, challenging and frightening times for everyone in Ireland.
For the team here at Saint Joseph’s Shankill, our priority remains to provide the best care and support for the most vulnerable and frail in our society and of course to protect our wonderful and dedicated staff.
As with many front-line organisations across Ireland, the COVID-19 outbreak poses a massive challenge to our services for vulnerable people living with dementia.
We have had to suspend all our day care services and our community work for those people in our care who are living at home alone or with their families. But we are looking at ways of we can be resourceful enough to assist them while maintaining a distance.
But we still need to provide 24/7 around the clock care for the 60 people who live with us, all of whom are living with dementia at different stages of the illness.
So what can you do to help us?
It goes without saying that the most important thing for everyone to do is to abide by all the HSE guidelines to flatten the curve.
But we also need funds to keep delivering our specialised care.
All donations, no matter how big or small will make a difference.
If you feel you can donate to us, please complete the donor form on this page.
Or you can support our staff while they support our residents.
You or your company can gift items or goodies to include in our ‘Superhero Packs’ for the team here – there are 103 people here committed to putting others first as they provide the essential care and support here at Saint Joseph’s Shankill. They don’t expect anything but by gifting something they will feel so appreciated and motivated.
COVID-19 presents a very real crisis with regard to our staffing at Saint Joseph’s Shankill. If you are qualified in healthcare or hospitality please check out our recruitment page HERE.
