07 Oct SJOG Community Services
Our sister companies; SJOG Community Services, who, with the deepest regret announced they were to serve 12 months’ notice to Terminate their Services Arrangement with the HSE and transfer responsibility for the entirety of their service provision to the HSE due to the chronic underfunding that they have been experiencing for many years now.
SJOG Community Services has looked after children and adults with mental health illnesses and intellectual disability for 100 years, but their underfunding has been a chronic problem in continuing this service and is now untenable.
Saint Joseph’s Shankill is NOT a part of SJOG Community services, so the announcement does not impact our residents or care service.
Obviously the Covid 19 crisis has had an impact on our #fundusfairly campaign, as we were committed to ensuring the health and welfare of the people in our care. But we have engaged with the new government officials and are lobbying our local TDs to assist us with our own funding issues. So far we have received very positive cross party support although we have yet to secure the funding we need.
